Roberts Rhubarb

Grown in a 9 square mile radius, the Rhubarb triangle in West Yorkshire once produced 90% of the world’s winter forced rhubarb from the forcing sheds that were common across the fields there. In the 1800s 2-4 tonnes a day were harvested by candlelight but now only 3 acres remain.

We are lucky to have such Wonderfull produce down the road and the rhubarbs brightness brings a flash of colour to the dark winter days, ushering in the spring to come

The rhubarb is currently on the menu as a pate de fruit, but we are slowly building up our supply and preserving the bulk of the produce for the coming months. The Rhubab will be pickled, juiced, candied, fermented into umeboshi and country wine to name a few.
