Ikebana with Junko Popham

Born in Tokyo, Ikebana master Junko Popham moved to the UK in 1989, after a varied career as a music journalist and concert producer. Living in London for a period before moving to the countryside and began a career in gardening where she found an appreciation forBritish nature following a life the City.

As Junko put it “we don’t have to do anything, but watch the flowers dance in the wind.” We copy nature which over and over copies itself. Junko spent the day with us at WTLGI visiting the Landing, our rooftop growing space  where she was delighted to see our produce and the possibilities of Ikebana growing everywhere. She explained how we don’t need to do anything but let nature be, all we do is find the best angle to view it from. Ikebana is based in minimalism, following a rule of three Shin, Soe, Tome.

Junko will be holding workshops with us at WTLGI using flowers and plants grown on The Landing and spreading her infectious joy of Ikebana.
