Jordan Trek 2020

Jordan Trek 1.jpg

In Spring 2020, Sam will be embarking on a 6 day endurance trek through the Jordanian desert with a team of Chefs and Industry ambassadors to raise money for Action Against Hunger. The expedition will take the group through the Jordanian Rift Valley and will see them traverse through the valley to reach the ancient city of Petra.

The trekkers hope to raise a combined amount of £150,000 to support the humanitarian work of Action against Hunger in Jordan, where they have been providing immediate care and support to refugees who have arrived across the border from Syria. In 2018 alone, Action against Hunger helped 52,805 Jordanians and Syrian refugees by providing nutrition and access to livelihoods for those who are in dire need. Their work is incredible, and Sam is hoping to raise at least £5000 to support their efforts.
Before Sam embarks on his expedition in February, we will be hosting several fundraising events so that you can join the effort and help us raise as much money as possible for this incredible charity. Any support you can offer will be gratefully received.

FERMENTATION WORKSHOP

The repertoire at Where the Light Gets In relies heavily on fermentation in order to preserve produce to build up the larder for the winter months. Using many different methods the chefs are able to utilise by products limiting waste coming out of the kitchen.
Through these stores we prepare unique dishes with bold flavours. We would like to share a few of our secrets.
Spend an afternoon with Sam learning about the history of fermentation, its use in our land and lands further afield and techniques that can help you to prepare pickles and preserves at home.
This workshop is to raise money for Sam's trek in Jordan in February 2020 so every single penny will go towards Action Against Hunger.

You will go home with a jar of what you've prepared and will enjoy a glass of wine. Tickets here :
