Residency #3 The Landing

Thank you to everybody who joined us for our third residency, Printing with Plants, on The Landing.

During the workshop we took inspiration from botanical artist, collector and photographer Anna Atkins, who was the first person to illustrate a book with photographic images.

Her nineteenth-century cyanotypes used light exposure and a simple chemical process to create impressively detailed blueprints of botanical specimens. Anna's innovative use of new photographic technologies merged art and science, and exemplified the exceptional potential of photography in books.

We had a beautiful day selecting produce from the community garden to make a range of botanical themed cyanotype prints with the guidance of @kthry_

In the afternoon we headed back to @arestaurantwherethelightgetsin and learnt how to bind books with the help of @hollytem

Keep your eyes peeled for future workshop
